The Iowa State University Fashion Show began as a simple runway show held in a MacKay Hall classroom in 1982 with attendance of only a few Iowa State University students. Over the course of thirty-nine years, The Fashion Show has grown into one of the largest student-run fashion shows in the nation produced by over 100 students selected to be part of the various committees.
In addition, The Fashion Show includes around 70 student models who showcase the garments selected by our guest judges, which vary each year. They curated the assortment of garments you will see in the show from over 100 entries by students in the Apparel, Merchandising, and Design program.
Throughout the year, several supporting events are planned and executed by committee members and directors, primarily taking place on Iowa State University’s campus to create awareness and excitement for the show. The Fashion Show is held at Stephen’s Auditorium and has a livestream that reaches across the globe. The show has become a much anticipated and exciting event on both our campus and in the Ames community!
Every year, students have opportunity to showcase student designs in the Iowa State University Fashion Show. It's one of the largest student-produced and promoted events in the nation with Producers, Directors, and Committee Members, totaling around 130 students!
